Wednesday 14th February

So, we’re now feeling bold enough to talk about an opening date; albeit tentatively we hope it will be the 3rd week in March. It is super exciting to imagine opening our doors to you all and to welcome you in.

The redecoration continues at a considerable speed with a brand-new colour palette in place. We’ve been working on the different spaces; creating the brand new ‘Lounge Bar’, the ‘Parlour’ dining-room and the new cosy ‘Snug’. These are all close to being finished after a few final touches. The bar area remains essentially the same apart from a few new flourishes. The Upton is such an amazing building, and we are looking forward to welcoming you in through the doors!

We have now recruited both a General Manager & and Head Chef. Having both Mark and Dan lined up at this point is super cool. As with all of our recruitment, we need great people to do a great job. Delivering a high level of service is key to our ethos! We are beginning work on our menus. Along with Dan, we’re exploring local suppliers. Your suggestions are very welcome; food miles and sustainability are paramount to what we will be doing here!

Keep an eye here and we’ll confirm a date over the coming weeks!

Hello all. Friday 2nd Feb

So, since we've had the keys its been a crazy time! Its SO exciting to feel The Upton starting to come back to life and to be part of the journey to revitalize this amazing pub. We’ve been super busy getting to grips with actioning our super-long To Do list. We've finalised our colour schemes and are continuing the repainting and making key decisions on bar carpet, toilet flooring and blinds. And of course there are lashings of good old fashion tidying up and hard work to do!

The cellar installation is planned for later next week; we're keen to make sure that our drinks offer is top notch both in quality and range. Plans to work on the kitchen are afoot; this naturally being a crucial element in our offering and how we intend to make The Upton a destination for quality food.

We're looking at the exterior too of course; repairs and tiding up as well as introducing flowers into new hanging baskets and borders. We certainly want to put our best face on! We have had a huge number of emails of support offering good wishes and help. Thank you to all of you! Honestly, its been a little overwhelming and we're a bit on the back foot trying to reply to everyone. But will get there! It's heartening to have met so many of you in person who are genuinely pleased to know that The Upton will reopen, and that we have a commitment to providing quality countryside pub hospitality for locals and visitors alike.

Here's a little teaser from our newly decorated lounge area, what do you think

Its legal, all most ! Thursday 18th Jan

Today  we're in the midst of the final legal throws to completing, in this moment there is a reality that defines all the hopes and dreams of starting a new adventure, whilst not my first ‘walk around the park, its still challenging to turn a around a fallen Pub, we all know this.

Make no mistake we do like a challenge, buoyed up by all the good wishes and positivity that has come our way, thanks for the emails everyone. Its great to feel the community that we so dearly want to be both part of and connected too, is reaching out.

So then we are starting to get questions, suggestions and idea’s  which is fab, please don’t hesitate to get involved, we really want to hear what you have to say, it’s so very helpful.

With thoughts on menu’s & drinks suggestions, on party nights , charity and fundraising events. As well as opening times.

There is a lot to think about for sure. But will get there.

Monday 15th January

We should be getting the keys to The Upton this Friday which is super cool and exciting! I’m so looking forward to being hands on if you know what I mean. You will be seeing us around over the next few weeks as we work through our extensive, marginally scary and overly optimistic  list of jobs.

Do say hello if you’re passing by! Alas we’re not open, so no exciting cocktails beers , wines yet. The cupboards are totally  bare, but the coffee machine might work  with a jolly packet of biscuits. Failing that, there will always be the kettle and teabag option! Its always good to natter!
